TRANSACTION IN DATABASES

Most of the organisations use database to store their information such as bank may use a database to store the balance of all depositors in a bank.
For Example:

A bank balance must be updated when a deposit is made and such a program which performs these changes is called as transaction.
A transaction is a collection of operations that forma a single logical unit of work. The various operations that form a transaction typically include adding some new data, modifying existing data, accessing existing data etc.
A transaction is a logical unit of work that must be entirely completed or entirely aborted to ensure consistency and integrity of the database.
